Lady Liberty

The Lady Liberty Series began in 1995 when I came across a Statue of Liberty while driving on a remote lane in Co. Donegal, Ireland. Soon after I found another statue in Derry, Northern Ireland. Over the years I’ve encountered these replicas in Germany, Florida, New Mexico and locally throughout the Hudson Valley often in the oddest places. When seen out of context it often conveys a different message than its original intent which continues to intrigue me. Included in this series are some images of the original in New York Harbor taken from the Staten Island Ferry at night and from Liberty Park in New Jersey.
